Your dentist is your first line of defence when it comes to the early detection and diagnosis of mouth cancer. We can screen for cancer as a part of your dental check-up, so it is important to make sure you schedule examinations every six months.

The examination will include a visual inspection of your mouth and throat and a physical examination of your neck and jaw. Your dentist will check for lumps, swelling, or any other abnormalities. If they suspect mouth cancer, they will refer you to a specialist for a biopsy.

Mouth cancer typically affects more men than women between the ages of 50 and 74. Other risk factors include smoking and alcohol consumption.

The earlier the diagnosis, the better your chances of overcoming mouth cancer. It is important to be proactive in managing your oral health. If you notice any irregularities in your mouth or jaw, contact your dentist without delay.
